Risdon Cove Hobart

Located in the suburb of Risdon, this historical place can be reached via East Derwent Highway and is open for public every day of the week. This place is famous for the tragedy that happened in 1804 when 100 Aboriginal people were massacred by white settlers. In 1992, the Tasmanian Aboriginal community held a meeting at Risdon Cove and launched a program to win back their land. They eventually succeeded in 1995 as the land was granted to the Aboriginal Councils of Tasmania. Today, you’ll find many attractions on the site such as picnic area, visitor Centre, and walking tracks. This site is now maintained by the Tasmanian Aboriginal Centre and has an extremely friendly staff to help you with your needs and queries.

There are two parts of this historical place; one is the area that has been recently constructed and houses the children aboriginal school and community center; the other one bears historical significance as it was a place where the English first settled down by killing the natives of this region. This is a wholesome family gathering spot that offers not only facilities for relaxation but also education about the history of the residents. This is an exciting place to play and learn that you dare not miss out!
